God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. [28] God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Genesis 1:27-28 NASB
In Genesis 1, God was bringing man into the earth and He acted in a similar way that David did to Solomon; A King talking to a king, one handing over the kingdom to another, 1 Kings 2. There were certain things that God sought to accomplish by bringing man into the scene and to help man understand these things, He had to explain these things. The very first command and word to man in Genesis 1:28 was an indication that there was unfinished business on earth, even though God had created the world and said it was very good.
God encoded this message throughout the world that He had put man in. Romans 1:20 says ” For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.“. Jesus in Matthew 13:43 says
“Then THE RIGHTEOUS WILL SHINE FORTH AS THE SUN in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear”. This meant that as the sun was meant to give life and light to all of creation, the sun is a witness of who we are meant to be. God did not just create the world for fun. Although it is beautiful, there is a message encoded in creation. He told the sun to rule the day and give light to the earth and be for signs and seasons, Genesis 1:16. Daniel 12:3 shows the meaning of this to us, saying ” Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven (the sun), and those who lead the many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.”
Paul says our actual citizenship is in heaven, Philippians 3:20. This makes sense because the sun cannot shine from the earth. To be the sun, we need to ascend to the heavens. This gives us a clue that there is a provision to ascend in the spirit. Psalm 19:1-6 also shows a people prophetically who are a tabernacle for the sun, who is the Sun of Righteousness, Jesus Christ, Malachi 4:2, Revelations 2:28. Jesus is a Sun and we are also a sun, Him being the head and we being His body. Why are we considering this?
Returning to Genesis 1:1-4, we have a clue of what transpired before man came on the scene. Outer space is still considered the physical realm, so the darkness upon the deep here is not outer space. Genesis 2:5 implies that before anything exists on the earth, it already exists in the Spiritual and Psalm 90:1-2 also re-echoes this, saying we dwelt in God before anything was brought out of Him. This means that, not only are there two realms, man existed in the Spiritual before he did in the physical. Man has attendance in both the spiritual and the physical realm. Genesis 1:2 shows that darkness preceded the work the Lord intended to do. God intentionally located man on earth which was the central hub of this darkness in the universe.
How did this darkness come to be? There was once just one realm, the Kingdom of God, light. However, there was a rebellion and some scriptures such as Ezekiel 28, Isaiah 14 and Jude 1:6 gave us insight into this rebellion. Satan mused over an estate that was never meant to be his and he moved to take it. As a result he was cast out along with those who rebelled with him. These vagabonds were once a stratum of organization and being away from the light, they formed darkness in the nether regions from the kingdom. This was the place God decided that He would put the earth and man.
Why does this matter to us? Where purpose is not known abuse is inevitable. God in placing man in the centre hub of darkness set man and the kingdom of darkness on a head on collision. Why? Because the entire world belongs to God and it was not His intent in casting out rebellion that they form an alternate Kingdom outside His kingdom. God intended that the seed of the woman will ultimately put an end to this rebellion and that was why man was placed on earth, Genesis 3:15. It is for this reason the devil hates man. Man is God’s instrument to destroy him finally. In subsequent meditations, we will explore more details of God’s letter to man. However, for now, know this, that your coming into the earth was by design and the purpose given at the beginning was to be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion. You were created to be a sun, radiating the life and light of the father to expel all darkness around you.
Prayer for today: God, My Father, thank you for communicating your purpose to me, that I may not walk around as one without understanding. Your Word says that those who have insight will shine bright like the sun and the righteous will shine and the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. I therefore ask for wisdom and insight. I know I was not an accident and where I live, work, and the family I was born into was intentional as well. Making me a sun, I know your intent is that I dispel darkness in my world. Help to shine your light to day and put to flight all darkness and rebellion to your Kingdom around me.
