Ascribe ye strength unto God; His excellency is over Israel And His strength is in the clouds.
Psalm 68:34 KJV
Yesterday, we began meditating on the battle of the Lord to reclaim the kingdoms of this world. The instrument of His warfare in these last days are His cloud: a collection of faithful saints who dwell in the heavens, having ascended up the mountain of the Lord. Judges 4 and 5 are a type of the last day battle. Israel was in an oppressed and dejected state under the rule of Sisera, the captain of the host of the King of Canaan, which was meant to be the land of promise. This was because they had sinned against the Lord, yet the Lord saved them by raising up individuals who would be His battle axe against His enemies.
Israel had conquered many nations after leaving Egypt and also possessed the land of Canaan at this point, so how did they get to the point of oppression under the King Jabin? The Song of Deborah gave insight into this. Her entire song was a prophetic description written in symbols showing God’s victory. Deborah begun this song of victory praising the Lord for His victory, when the people willingly offered themselves unto God. She spoke about the glories of the early days when God matched with Israel out of Egypt, through the wilderness into Canaan. Yet in this time of Deborah, it was said that the highways were unoccupied and travellers walked through the by-ways. The bible in Isaiah 35:8 speaks of a highway for the way-faring men or the pilgrims called the highway of holiness. Israel had sinned and men did what was pleasing in their eyes. They chose new gods, resulting in war in their gates, when they should have been possessing the gates of their enemies. They were no shields and spears. They fought naked, rather than having God’s armour, Ephesians 6.
Yet Deborah mentioned of the governors in Israel who willingly offered themselves unto God. Psalm 110:3 says “Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness and from the womb of the morning, with the dew of youth”. These governors rode on white horses and walked in the way of holiness. They were delivered from the noise of archers, which scripturally speaks of bitter words from the enemy, Psalm 64:3-4, in the place of drawing water (the study of the word) Ephesians 5:26. This symbolically implies, that they read and rehearsed to themselves the righteous acts of the Lord and also strengthened their brethren. The result was that their brethren rose to the gates, ready for battle. Here, the various tribes of Israel came out to battle. It was said that Zebulun and Naphtali loved not their lives even unto death. The people were willing! This battle took place in the heavens, by a people who had heeded the call of God initially to ascent to mount Tabor.
The victory was sealed by a woman called Jael. Jael means a mountain goat. Mountain goats have a unique ability to climb even the steepest of mountains with ease, because of their hind feet. She is a type of the mountain dwellers, who accepted the call to go up the mountain, to meet the Lord in the clouds. She exhibited great wisdom and with hospitality, brought in Sisera into her tent. He asked for water and she gave him milk and while he slept, she killed him with a tent peg. There is much that can be said regarding this woman and her method of victory, but this is also an encouragement to the women. The place in the battle of the Lord cannot be under emphasized. God himself instigated the enmity between the woman and the serpent and promised that out of her will come one who will come the one who will deliver mankind, Genesis 3:15. A woman is portal that brings life into the world, when given to the enemy, she can cause great disaster like Jezebel, 1 kings 16:31-31, 18:3-4, but when given to the Lord, great salvation can be won for His Kingdom like in the case of Jael.
A common theme in this battle that is very much relevant to us today, is the willingness of the people and their fighting from the heavens, having ascended up the mountain. As said yesterday, those who will fight and win in the battle of the Lord in these last days are those who offer themselves willingly and ascend the mountain in prayer and while waiting on the Lord in the secret place. God is gathering these saints, the clouds in whom His strength will be revealed. Decide to be among these clouds. Willingly offer yourself to the Lord, that He may make your feet like that of Jael, a mountain goat. Behold the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints in the clouds with great power and glory. May we be part of this great company.Amen.
Prayer for today: Lord Jesus I submit myself to you today and ask that you hold keep my feet firm in the way of holiness. Lord, make my feet like hinds feet and cause me to walk upon high places up the mountain and deeper into you. Make me a part of Your cloud of witnesses who will be the victors in this end time battle. May I not be slack and stay back like Reuben and Dan, but may I be willing to lay down my life for this victory like Naphtali and Zebulun. I know that to You belong the victory and the glory forever, Amen.
