118 – How to become a god

Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods”’? [35] If He called them
gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture can-not be
broken), [36] do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent
into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of
God’?.

John 10:34-36

God in the beginning existed by Himself, all creation was within Him including man. At a certain point, He thought to have a family and brought man out of Him, to be another expression of His person on earth. It was said of man that he was made in the image and likeness, Genesis 1:26-27. A god is an heir of God — one who inherits God (His character and glory). Because there is only one God, all who will be gods are those have His nature. Just like one is a lion not because he wishes, but because he is born of a lion, has the nature and look of a lion, one is a god because he is born of, has the nature and look of the one true God. Hence, when man sinned, he became something different, he lost connection with God’s spirit and “went the way of all flesh”. Corrupting himself, he became like the beast of the earth and was destined to perish. Yet, God’s original intent was brought to fruition when the Word of God came to us again. The same word of God that created man in the beginning came again to restore man to his estate, hence it is said “But as many as received Him (Jesus, the Word), to them He gave the right to become sons of God, to those who believe in His name, John 1:12.

Romans 8:16-19 says: “[16] The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, [17] and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. [18] For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. [19] For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.”. Creation was subject to a curse when man, who was meant to reveal God lost this nature. The ground was cursed for man’s sake, Genesis 3:17-19. We see the evidence of this all around in death, famine, earthquakes, everything moving contrary to the nature of God. Yet, creation awaits a promise of its redemption. It is by receiving and believing the Word of God that we will gradually mature to the point of being revealed with glory to all creation as the sons of God (the inheritors of God) — those who are like the Lord Jesus (the Firstborn).

Psalm 19:7 echoes the same truth (that it is the Word of God that will change you). It reads: “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;”. The passage is saying that the law of the Lord (the Word of the Lord) is perfect (in definition and in effect) because it possesses the power to convert your soul (your personality: your mind, your emotions, your desires, and your will). The Word of God can change your personality. The Word of God can change your mind (so that you can have the mind of Christ). The Word of God can change your emotions (so that you can have God’s emotions — love, joy, peace and so on). The Word of God can change
your will (so that you have God’s will). The Word of God can change your desires (so that you can have God’s desires). The Word of God can change you (so that you can be who He has purposed you to be in Him).

While Romans 1:16 says the gospel is the power of God unto salvation, Hebrews 4:2 makes it clear that it is only when believed that this Word has a transforming power in you. For Mary to bear the Son of God, she had to believe the Word of the Lord that came to her. It manifested in a physical baby in her womb, Luke 1:38. This again emphasizes the creative and transformative power of God. It is God’s will that you be a god, His own offspring. It is His will that you showcase His nature of love, justice, power, dominion over all creation. Yet a lack of knowledge of this truth, as seen in Psalm 82 is what make men who are destined to be much more die without becoming one. The world needs you! Creation has been crying and groaning waiting for your manifestation. Beloved, stay under the transformative power of God today that you may be an answer to creations need for God, the cry for a saviour loudly heard all around.

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, thank you for not leaving me in my depraved estate. Thank you for seeking and saving me who was destined to perish. Lord I choose to yield to Your Word today, that my soul may be transformed into all that You choose that I be. I receive the capacity to believe Your Word, knowing that You speak according to Your ability to do. Let me be the answer to the cry of all creation around me. Let me manifest your nature and character to all creation.
