126 – The Rock of Ages

And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. [45] Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

Daniel 2:44-45 KJV

Nebuchadnezzar was the greatest King to live in his days. He had such splendour and majesty around him that his Kingdom was prophetically referred to as a head of gold in Daniel 2. Yet he saw a dream that troubled him and Daniel was sent by God to give the interpretation, not just for the king, but for us as well, upon whom the end of the age has come. The dream spoke of a Rock, that destroyed all the kingdoms of this world and set up a kingdom that cannot be removed. This rock is Christ. The bible says “Our God is a rock”. Isaiah 26:4 (YLT) also says “Trust ye in Jehovah for ever, For in Jah Jehovah is a rock of ages”. He is the eternal rock who can be trusted and relied on for everlasting strength and He who can never be moved.

Upon the touch down of this rock in Daniel 2, it began to expand into a mountain. This expansion is done by a multiplication of the rock according to the same pattern of the original and the fusing of we who have been made into little lively rocks into one great mountain. Christ came as the corner stone and a foundation. 1 Peter 2:5-7 says Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. [6] Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner. Christ came to lay the foundation of the great mountain, Mount Zion, which shall not be moved, but abide forever. This mountain is the Church, the bride of Christ and the city of our God. The Church is the foundation upon which God is setting a government on earth.

It is written of the church in Isaiah 2:3And many people shall go and say, come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths; for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.1 Timothy 3:5 also calls her the pillar and ground of truth. Because Zion is beautiful in elevation, and the Joy of the whole world as Psalm 48:1-2 says, the Lord Himself is set to elevate the church and use her as the answer to the cry of the nations. All who will be a part of this mount Zion are those that have learned to trust in the Lord forever. Zion is a mountain of holiness. All who are a part of Zion dwell in the Holiest of all with the Lord Jesus. Most importantly, they have learned to trust the Lord forever. To trust the Lord forever means they have lost all faith in everything else, including themselves. In John 12:20-26, the Greeks sought to see Jesus. He responded saying “Except a corn of wheat falls to the ground and die, it abides alone, but if it dies, it brings many fruit”. This was an answer to the greeks telling them how He is one now, but soon He would be a many membered body. It was also an answer to all who seek to be a part of this body, that they must, like Him, fall to the ground and die to themselves, desires, will, etc, to be included in this many membered body.

To prepare His church for the coming take over of the Kingdoms of this world, God is establishing and exalting her via the method of His Word and the out pouring of His Spirit. How does this apply to you? If you have believed in Jesus, you are a lively stone out of a great mountain. In everything, you are to be conformed to Christ to be a part of this great mountain. This means loosing faith in the World and its rudiments and following Christ. It means submitting to the Word of God and the leading of His Spirit. The stones are cut without hands, this means that no human effort can create these stones. Christ Himself builds His church. Hence, Isaiah 26:4 admonishes, that you trust in Him completely, not in yourself or your ability to be perfect by yourself, which is filthy before God. Our only hope of being the answer to the nations, this rock of ages that abides forever, in whom nations will come to for succour is if we also trust and totally rely on the one who is the hope of the nations and the confidence of the Whole earth. It is then He would impart His nature upon you, that He may multiply to fill the whole earth which many that are exactly as He is.

Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, Your word says that You are the foundation that has been laid, the pattern that I can become if I trust in You. Your word also says that in You is everlasting strength that can keep me from wavering and slipping. I choose to rely on You alone today. Help me to realize that there is no help in any other than the name Jesus. Let me learn to trust in You completely and forever, that I may be built into mount Zion, which shall not be moved but abides forever. Amen.
