The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. [2] The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. [3] Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.
PSALM 110:1-3 KJV
In Psalm 110, David heard a conversation between Jehovah and Jesus where Jehovah essentially promised to finish the work Christ had started by making all His enemies worshippers at His footstool. It was a promise that since He had given His soul as an offering for sin, He will see the reward of His soul and be satisfied, Isaiah 53:10-12. In Psalm 110:2, David essentially prophesied the Word of the Father saying “Your Father will send a company of people out of Zion. A people from all tribes on the earth, but shaped into one, Zion. All of them will seek Your own glory alone. As living creatures in Revelation 4:8, they will say, Holy Holy Holy is He who sits on the throne. They shall be willing, abundantly willing and fully desirous to enter into the glory of the latter rain, the Day of Your power”. This latter rain is prophetically called the day of the power of Him that sits on the throne. It is the day of overwhelming encounter with the Person and Power of the Holy Spirit without measure. This is the major thing in the heart of God right now. All who receive an overwhelming of the Spirit of God shall not fail in one bit.
This latter rain is a mandatory rain that will surely some. It is the coming of the Lord, as sure as the morning, Hosea 6:1-3. In the first out pouring, some people came forth, some were faithful and some were not. These who receive this rain will all be faithful, submissive and work in the power of the Holy Spirit. The beast shall not prevail against them like the a certain people that failed in the past. The marks of the beauty and holiness and character will be seen in these people who will be willing and the beast shall remain in the bottomless pit in relation to them. The latter rain will not produce failures. This is why the rains come to instruct us on how to beautify ourselves and conduct ourselves. These people shall be born from the womb of God, announcing a new era, a new day. In Psalm 110:1-3, David is reporting what the Father said to the Son, How a people will go forth in the strength, dominion that has been written in Genesis 1:26-28 and wherever they go they will show forth His glory. This is what will be true of us once the latter rain is poured out.
In Psalm 110 2:4, David prophesied to Jesus the role He would play in all this as a High priest. Christ was made a high priest after His glorification. It is shown that He will function in the power of the High Priest after the order of Melchizedek, an endless life. When He comes as a high priest, He will complete the testimony of these individuals in Psalm 110:2-3. He will be an officiator of the new covenant shown in Hebrews 10:14,16-17: For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. [16] This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; [17] And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. As a High Priest of glorious things to come, He is able to save to the uttermost all who come to Him. The anointing of Jesus as the high priest makes us priests under the body of the high priest. The overall result of Jesus priestly ministry and his redeeming power towards man is that His people shall be all living creatures in the day of His power.
In Psalm 110:5, since the plan and counsel of God cannot fail, David also spots the intending opposition to the Lord’s plan and how this will be addressed. His words to the Lord gives us assurance in these times we are in, 2020 and beyond, where it looks like the world has changed to disfavour the church. Nothing will interfere with God’s plan. The name of the theme of these times is harvest. This because the sons of God are coming to full age. What this means is that the most glorious period of the church age is here. However, there is conspiracy to stop the church from harvest. Tomorrow’s meditation will consider the harvest, the opposition and God’s response in more detail. However, the thrust of this chapter is that upon the visitation of God in the latter rain, He will empower a body of people through which He will be glorified. In preparation for this, Zechariah 10:1 tells us to pray for rain, not necessarily the latter rain. The latter rain must come. However, it will only be of benefit to those who have been prepared by the earlier rains. This early rain is a teaching rain. It is the daily coming of the Lord to us in the medium of His word and guidance by His Spirit, to bring refreshing and to uproot of any tree that has not been planted by the Father. All who yield to this rain will have the same testimony of Jesus in John 14:30, “the prince of this world cometh and finds nothing in me”. These will not fail in the day of the Lords power.
Prayer for the day. Father, it is written that Your people shall be willing in the day of Your power. In the beauty of holiness and from the womb of the morning. Father, be my strength, be my guide. Prepare me for this great outpouring. Send your rain to me today to refresh and teach me how to deny ungodliness, that when the Latter rain comes, all it will see in me to magnify is all that You are and nothing else. Amen
