Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
MATTHEW 6:31-33 KJV
Jesus taught His disciples to pray “thy Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”, Matthew 6:10. This prayer summed up Jesus ministry during His first coming. Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people, Matthew 4:23. In Luke 4:43, Jesus told them, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well, because that is why I was sent.”. He sent his disciples as messengers to herald this good news and said that the end of this age of men will be, when the gospel of the Kingdom has been preached to all nations, Matthew 24:14.
What is the gospel of the Kingdom? It is the good news that Christ, the King and His dominion shall take over every other domain that has ruled men, 1 Corinthians 15:24. It is the good news that the God has called men to see, enter and inherit the Kingdom as co-heirs with Christ. It is the good news of the imminent overthrow of the Kingdom of men and darkness and the installation of a Kingdom full of gladness and everlasting Joy, righteousness and peace, where sorrow, pain and sighing shall cease, Isaiah 35:10, Romans 14:17. As mentioned in our previous meditation, we mentioned that it is the Father’s good pleasure to give us the Kingdom. We also mentioned the process of entering the Kingdom of God, which is by receiving the Word of God as a child and obeying the gospel of the Kingdom.
This gospel of the Kingdom is the Word of God, which is the testimony of Jesus and the Spirit of prophecy, Revelations 19:10. While the Kingdom message, which gives us access to inherit the Kingdom, is open to all, our ability to receive and appreciate it depends on our capacity and the state of our heart. In Matthew 13:1-23, Jesus spoke of the parable of the sower who preached the Word of the Kingdom. The results varied based on the heart condition of the individuals who heard. In Mark 4:33-34 , Jesus spoke to everyone in parables, but in the secret place, he explained the mysteries of the Kingdom to his disciples, giving them access to partake of it. This means that our access to the Kingdom is given to us in the secret as we spend time with the Lord.
In Matthew 13:51-52, Jesus speaks of a scribe who is instructed in the Kingdom of God. The scribes were teachers of the Law, or the ones who copied the scriptures. They would write it in scrolls. They studied it and spent a lot of time in the scripture to ensure the accuracy of their transcription. However, to partake of the Kingdom, the scribes had to be instructed unto the Kingdom of heaven, this instruction happens in the secret place. When one is instructed in the Kingdom of heaven becomes like a householder ,which brings forth out of His treasures, new and old. The difference between the one who merely hears the Word of Kingdom and the one who inherits it, is the instruction by Jesus. An ordinary man who is instructed in the scripture can become a fruitful land owner, God giving eternal life and having revelations new and old.
In conclusion, we have been hearing of the Kingdom of God, yet it is one thing to see it when we get born again, but it is another thing to enter and inherit the Kingdom. A kingdom has been appointed to us that we may eat and drink, sitting on the thrones of the Kingdom, Luke 22:29-30. As we stay in God’s presence eating and drinking of His table, authority is given unto us. Pauls admonition in Colossians 3:16, to all who want to be inheritors of this Kingdom is that we are to be scribes. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. This Grace is the total of all God has given to us in Christ. It is a teacher, an instructor in righteous, it is power. Grace and peace be multiplied to you as the Word of the Kingdom multiplies in our heart. Amen.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, thank you for appointing to me a Kingdom. You said it is given to me to understand the mysteries of the Kingdom. Let the scriptures be open to me that I may understand. Help me to be a diligent student of the Word that it may bear much fruit in me that endures to eternal life. Help me to stay in the secret place, that my heart may learn the mysteries of the Kingdom by Your instruction. I pray in Jesus name. Amen
