128- In the day of Thy Power

128- In the day of Thy Power

The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. [2] The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. [3] Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.

Psalm 110:1-3 KJV

In Psalm 110, David was given a unique insight into the heavenly realm and caught a conversation between Jehovah and Adonai. Peter in Acts 2:27-36 explained this scripture further, saying that this was a conversation that occurred after the resurrection of Jesus, where He sat at the right hand of the majesty on high. Having finished His work on earth, Christ the head ascended to the Father and sat down at His right hand, expecting that all his enemies become His footstool. In order to do this, He sent forth the Rod of His strength out of Zion with a clear command to rule in the midst of His enemies. In todays meditation we will explore this event and how it matters to us.

In verse one, we see God the Father, speaking to God the Son saying, sit down until I make thy enemy thy footstool. One thing to point out is that the Son has enemies, which God the Father has to avenge. The Lord will sent forth the rod of His strength out of Zion. The Church, Zion, is the Barrack, where God’s soldiers are being trained. Zion is to rule in the midst of her enemies, meaning Zion also has enemies. This is an extension of the dominion mandate given to man, in this case, Christ the second Adam. 1 Corinthians 15:24-26 says He must rule until all His enemies are subdued. His enemies are the enemies of God and the enemies of man. This includes anything that is contrary to the will of God in His creation. All His enemies becoming footstools simply means that they are subdued and become a place of comfort for His feet. It means men who were enemies of God, having that rebellious spirit taken away from them and becoming friends and lovers of God. This is done by the rod of His strength, the Gospel and the Holy Spirit in His body, by whom He leads and convicts men, bringing them to their knees, Romans 1:16.

Next it says, “Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power”. There are two things to note in this scripture. The first is the formation of an alliance and the next is divine timing. In acts 2, the people were praying to God on the day of Pentecost When the time was right, God clothed them with Power from on high. This was on the day of His power. On this day, the church was born, from the womb of the morning. Christ is called the morning star, the one that arises in the morning, Revelation 22:16. Christ rose from the dead, implying that this womb of the morning is the resurrection. The church also was formed when Christ, rose with us in Him. It is called the day of His power because the resurrection was the day, God displayed the magnitude of His power, raising Jesus from the depth of hades to a position higher than all the heavens, from death to eternal life, Ephesians 1:19-23. On the day of pentecost when this power was released, five thousand men converted to Christ, being recreated and embracing the beauty of holiness. It also says “Thou has the dew of thy youth”. The dew speaks of the anointing upon Aaron beard on mount Hermon as seen in Psalm 133. The Word “Hermon” means fellowship. So this was in essence saying that these willing people had been anointed as they were united, having the strength and anointing of youths, Isaiah 40:31.

How does this apply to us? The day of the Lord’s power began when He rose from the dead and the purpose of this day and all the resources released is that all the Lord’s enemies be subdued and men become His footstool. The Spirit was sent out and Zion was commissioned to bring rest and quietness to the soul of God. This begins in our lives and also in the World around us by the gospel. We have the Rod of the Spirit, the power of God unto salvation, given to us by His Holy Spirit and living Word to bring everything in our lives and around us in obedience to Christ. Being that this is the day of His power still, Christ has what it takes to subdue all flesh and give eternal life to all He pleases, John 17:2. As we preach the gospel, rebellion is cast out and men are brought to their knees. We can also tap into this where we see rebellion in our lives, be it in our health, character, finances, etc. In Exodus 14, when God told Moses to lead the Israelites to the Promised land, he was faced with a huddle, the red sea. God told him to stop crying to Him, but to use the Rod in His hand. This rod for us is the life Giving Word of God backed up by the Power from His Spirit. It is the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and parted the red sea. Beloved, You have been commissioned. Move forward and stretch forth this Rod! Rule thou in the midst of your enemies, God’s enemies!

Prayer for today: Lord I thank you for sending to me Your life Giving Word and a commission and empowerment to rule in the midst of Your enemies. Lord, I know that all things are under my feet, yet, I do not always see all things under my feet, but I see and will continue to see Jesus. Lord send forth Your life giving Word to me to deal with [ insert situation] and to bring everything in Obedience to Your counsel for my Life. Embolden me to preach Your gospel and bring my society around me to Your knees.

Blessings Beloved 👋
