The very first thing He said was “let there be light”. The essence, the instrument used to bring forth the new man is light. The new man is a product of life. What is light? What is darkness? Simply put, light is knowledge and darkness is ignorance. Knowledge of what? Knowledge of the most high God. This knowledge is communicated to us in two specific ways; (i) by experience, koinonia (fellowship). This is an experiential knowledge of Him. This takes time, but this is the enduring knowledge of Him. This requires several evening and morning and each cycle of them bring to you an impartation of His divine knowledge. When It says evening and morning make the first day, each of those days bring to you an experiential knowledge of God. However, God is merciful. He knows that if we continue the way we are now for millions of years, we cannot know Him, even if we are reading our bible and praying every day. And so, He brings in the other knowledge, (ii) The revelation knowledge of Him. Through the revelation knowledge, He surpasses your mind. He overrules your limitations and imparts you with a knowledge of Him, this is what the bible calls the Epignosis, Ephesians 1:17-19. The other knowledge is the gnosis, which comes by fellowship, interaction, by living in His revealed knowledge. You come to know Him by interaction. This exposes all the darkness within. However, God in His mercy knowing fully well our frame, gives us this other means of knowing Him, by revelation. Now revelation is not by scholarship. It is the prerogative of the Revelator. He decides what He reveals, when he reveals it, How He reveals it, to what extent He reveals it. The only thing you can do is to cooperate with him and put yourself in the place He can reveal Himself to you. Most of the time, where He reveals Himself is not in a palatable place. Those who are seeking personal pleasure may always be out of the sphere of divine revelation. However, if you have learned that in walking with God, God takes you through evening and night seasons, where there is darkness and complete ignorance to God, He comes as an intervention and gives you light and so it says in the evening time, there shall be light Zechariah 14:7. He gives light to accelerate your knowledge of him, but it is in the midst of darkness. Usually, this revelation comes in the midnight hour. God is a faithful and a kind God, He must make you pass. In God’s lecture, nobody fails. As long as you are faithfully attending the class, you can never fail. Isaiah 40:26. He teaches you by the greatness of His might. It is not an accumulation of head knowledge. It is an impartation of life. The ability to preach does not show the knowledge of God, this knowledge is worked into you, He engraves it into you. Hebrews 10:16, Jeremiah 31:33-34. He has done it, the given of the Holy Spirit is the mark of the new creation. 1 John 2:20, John 16:13. Your teacher is within you. You can listen to a thousand sermons, but it only the one that the Lord engraves in your heart that is yours. When it is engraved in your heart, it is permanent, if a man teaches you, you might forget.
The earth was without form and void and so that He does not leave you in the dark as to what form and void means. He says darkness was upon face the deep. The void and the formlessness is as a result of darkness, Jeremiah 4:23. The darkness is located on the face of the deep and so when God said let there be light, it was right in the face of the deep that He commanded the light. From 2 Corinthians 4:6, we can then see that the deep is our heart, but the face of the deep is our mind. So far, the enemy is able to torment our minds. When one comes to salvation, the Spirit is saved, the heart is captured by the Lord, however, our minds need deliverance. Darkness is the weapons of the enemy. The bible says the devil blinds the mind of people to the gospel, 2 Corinthians 4:4. Darkness is ignorance, he takes away the knowledge of God. There is nothing that frightens the devil more than when men know God. However, the earth will be filled with the knowledge of God, despite what the devil does. Habakkuk 2:14. In the new creation, the law is put in our minds, the putting in of the word of God is the commanding of the light to shine. The rabbi’s reading this might have wondered how this will be, knowing that the law was in one chest somewhere and they alone had access to it. They read with a veiled face, but the bible says we behold Him with an open face, 2 Corinthians 3:18. Hence He says we shall know Him, He said that with a note of authority, Jeremiah 31:31-34. The process of knowing Him may be tough but be rest assured that whatever you are going through, God will engrave in you His knowledge. When He took the Israelite through the wilderness and there was no water and they came to Mara, which had bitter waters, He let them know that He will take sickness away from them. Exodus 15:22-27. They finally found water and it was bitter and some began to complain. Never you complain. Don’t complain against God or your brother or any man. That is a fruit of the devil and not of God. If you need a change, go on your knees. These people were inflicted with the demon of complaining. 10 times they complained, and God was grieved, and God destroyed them in the wilderness. Psalm 95:10, Hebrews 3:8-12, 1 Corinthians 10:1-11. He is faithful who has called you, He will also perfect all that concerns you. The first thing that comes is life, this is to them that treasure their relationship with Him, He visits them in the midnight hour, Matthew 25:6. Why didn’t He visit Paul and Silas in the afternoon, why did He wait till midnight? In there they learned the ability of God to deliver you no matter what the circumstance is. Acts 16:52-34. From then, a sudden boldness entered Paul such that He was confident to stand before kings. The midnight hour is the darkest and just after that is the breaking of the day. Watch for the morning. That new day comes with a new revelation of Him and this keeps happening until our entire body conforms to Him. Do not be afraid when the darkness is very thick, because surely the light will breakthrough.
