Wisdom and Foolishness

Wisdom and Foolishness

It is easy to see wisdom as being smart, However, there is more to wisdom that the book of proverb speaks about. Wisdom is an entity, the person of Christ, Proverbs 1:20-23 correlates with Joel 2:28-29 and Matthew 11:15-19. Proverbs 8 further gives insight into the person of Wisdom, Christ. Paul calls Christ the wisdom of God, 1 Corinthians 1:24. Proverbs 8 speaks of wisdom leading in the way of righteousness; finding wisdom means finding life. Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life” John 14:6. Wisdom is Jesus Christ, and as we seek Him, He pours out His spirit upon us. Wisdom and understanding go hand in hand. Proverbs 8:14. You cannot have wisdom and not have understanding. Wisdom is the Jesus Christ, Understanding is the person of the Holy Spirit in believers, John 14:26.

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

Proverbs 4:7 KJV

You cannot have Jesus and not have the Holy Spirit in you. We are to seek and cry earnestly for wisdom and understanding. Wisdom cries out to us Proverbs 1:20 and in a similar way, no one came come to God till He first draws us, John 6:44, we respond by seeking wisdom, Psalms 27:8. The Lord is the rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Hebrews 44:6 This reward is Himself, Proverbs 2:6.

Why do we need Wisdom?
Wisdom allows us to prepare for the coming of Christ. In the previous meditation, we considered our change. That change cannot come unless we have understanding and wisdom.
